A couple times now since getting into lifting doing the Squats, Bench, Deadlifts and the Olimpic Cleans I had to help my brother he needed to borrow my Snapper rider lawnmower which is a 12 horse 28 inch cut..He didn't have any ramps to roll it onto the truck bed so him and his step son took the front and I took the back where most of the dead weight is if my research is correct this mower weighs around 350lb...while my brother and his step son struggled getting the front of the mower up into the bed of the truck I deadlifted the back of the mower up to my waist with ease it actually felt light and I also helped unload it back out taking the back as well and placing it back onto the ground.
Heres my question, why does this lawnmower feel light at this weight and I'm sure this is a ball park figure but when I am in a controled movement with doing Deadlifts of 250lb it feels heavier?
Anyway, my brother and his step son were pretty impressed with this and I told them that this was one of many reasons I started lifting at my age for functional strength to use when needed plus the benefits of health.
Anyone have a take on this as to why this mower felt lighter could it have been that the show off effect helped with this :biggrin5:
